Telangana Open School Society (TOSS)

Sri Narayana College has partnered with Telangana Open School Society (TOSS), the initiative of the program is to provide education to the Students, who have missed out their school level academics, for certain unforeseen reasons. The program helps the students, who are quite desirous to pursue their school grade education, the students can opt for TOSS and attempt to restart their education as a part of the Open and Distance Learning.

Aims and Objectives

The aim of Telangana Open School is to provide access to the attainable and essential quality of education, skill enhancement and contemporary teaching technique of open and distance learning to the students.

The Attributes

The objective of TOSS has been to offer pre-elementary education through both open and distance learning channels.
TOSS has become a wonderful platform for students to get a good hold on primary education and to attain Universalization of Elementary Education (EEE) in the state.
The purpose of TOSS has also been to enable continuing education for adult neo-literates, working men and women in order to reinforce their academic strengths

Pre-requisites

A student who is keen to pursue the TOSS methods of education, to pursue SSC or tenth class would need to have the following:

Birth certificate issued by the Municipal Office
Transfer Certificate (TC) (In case, discontinued in school stage)
A student should have completed 14 years

A student who is keen to pursue the TOSS methods of education, to pursue intermediate would need to have the following:

Student need to be passed in SSC or its equivalent/Intermediate drop-out
In order to complete intermediate in one year, there should be a one year gap after the SSC or 10th class.

It has to be noted that the certificates issued by the TOSS are equivalent to SSC/Intermediate at their level and this would be valid for all higher education as well as government jobs.

Telangana Open School Society was established as an autonomous society registered under the Andhra Pradesh Public Societies Act on the 20th of February 1991. It is the first State Open School in the country.

The main objectives of TOSS, at the time of its inception, have been

To provide pre-elementary Education through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode to School drop-outs and those missing the Upper Primary stage of education and to attain Universalization of Elementary Education (UEE) in the State.
To provide continuing education for adult neo-literates, working men and women to reinforce their functional literacy and not to allow them to relapse into illiteracy.

TOSS will provide opportunities for continuing education to those who have missed opportunities to complete school and development education; and to other children/persons desirous of pursuing school level education through open and distance learning (ODL) mode by offering courses and programs of general education, life enrichment, and vocational education up to pre-degree level.

Note: The Certificate issued by the TOSS is equivalent to SSC/Intermediate at their levels and this can be valid for all Higher Educations as well as Government Jobs.
